Mark Anderson, Principal, Managing Director Europe, South America and Australia Mark is one of the founding Directors of WMC, and is responsible for
managing our operations
in the UK, Australia and South America. He is professionally qualified as a geophysicist, and has over 23 years' experience in groundwater development, control, management, protection and modelling, plus drilling and geophysical methods for groundwater exploration. He has managed or directed water supply, water control and development projects in Europe, Australasia, Africa and the Americas. He has been responsible for all technical work and drilling management on several multi-million dollar turnkey water supply projects, and is
based in our office in Perth, Australia.
Dr John Andrew, Principal
John has over 30 years of experience in water resource engineering, mine hydrology, tailing management, mine closure and dam rehabilitation. He has worked on a wide range of projects in North America, South America, Asia/Pacific and Middle East. He has been the principal engineer on numerous projects for major dam rehabilitation, tailing dam design and management, hydraulic design, flood studies and construction management.
Simon Barrett, Australia Operations Manager
Simon joined WMC in 1996 when the company first expanded into Australia and has occupied the role of Operations Manager since that time. Simon has 16 years' experience providing consulting advice to mining companies in the areas of mine water management, water supply, mine dewatering and closure. Currently, Simon manages all WMC projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, including a number of ongoing mine water management studies being undertaken in Indonesia.
Peter Baur, Principal
Peter was one of the founders of WMC, and has over 22 years' experience as a hydrologist. Following three years working in Sudan and Kenya, Peter has worked as a consultant hydrologist on a wide variety of groundwater and surface water projects in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Pacific. He has built up extensive experience in designing and managing multi-disciplinary projects in the field of integrated water resources development and management. Peter leads WMC's work in international development, and is based in the UK office.
Geoff Beale, Principal
Geoff is one of the founding Directors of WMC, with over 28 years' professional experience in hydrogeology and groundwater engineering. He started work with the Tay River Board in Scotland and, since becoming a consultant in 1980, he has managed water resource development, mining hydrology and environmental assessment projects in Europe, North and South America, Africa and the Middle East. Geoff has built up an international reputation in the mining industry, and is currently active in developing new approaches to predicting the potential for acid mine water generation and the design and permitting of closure schemes. Geoff works out of the UK and US offices.
Richard Boak, Principal, UK Operations Manager Richard has over 22 years of professional experience as a hydrogeologist and engineer. He joined WMC in 1998 as UK Operations Manager, having previously held positions such as Principal Hydrogeologist for Southern Water, and Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham. Richard has particular expertise in water resources planning, groundwater protection, small-scale rural water supplies, borehole construction and test pumping, and assessment of the environmental effects of groundwater abstraction. He has extensive international experience, with a strong focus on Africa. Richard is a Chartered Geologist and Chartered Engineer.
Enrique Buschiazzo, Principal, Senior Water Resources Engineer Enrique is a registered professional engineer with over 25 years of experience. His specialized expertise includes hydrology, water management and sediment control studies, water supply studies, hydraulic design, monitoring programs design and set up and river engineering including hydrodynamic and sediment transport modelling. His international experience includes projects in many countries around the world including the Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe.
John Chahbandour, Principal, US Operations Manager
John has over 15 years of experience in hydrogeology for water resources, mining, and environmental projects.
He has broad expertise and experience in
contaminant hydrogeology
, artificial recharge, vadose zone hydrology, water supply, mine dewatering, solid and hazardous waste management, and remedial design. John is fluent in Spanish and has also been Operations Manager for WMC in our Santiago, Chile office.
Jeremy Dowling , Manager WMC Tucson
Jeremy Dowling is Manager of the WMC Tucson office. He has a BSc in Applied Environmental Geology and an MSc in Hydrogeology. He has 12 years of consulting experience including extended periods in the UK, Perú and the USA. He has expertise in a wide range of mining-hydrogeologic disciplines, including mine dewatering, pit-slope depressurization, pit lakes, mine closure, water balances, surface water management and water resources. He has also participated in a number of water resources and Environmental Agency projects in the UK.
Rick Keefer, Principal, Chief Financial Officer
Rick joined WMC in 1993, and is the Chief Financial Officer for the WMC group. He has an MBA degree, as well as earning the qualifications to be a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to joining WMC, he worked for several years in public accounting with firms such as Deloitte & Touche, mainly doing business audits. Rick oversees the accounting, finance and tax planning for all WMC's operations around the world. Rick was originally based in the Denver, USA office, but has now relocated to Shrewsbury, UK.
John McCartney, Principal, South America Operations Manager
John has 15 years' experience in managing and undertaking hydrogeological investigation programs throughout Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. He has undertaken field mapping and well census for regional hydrogeological investigations, managed the installation and optimization of dewatering systems for both open pit and underground operations, and has been involved in numerous ARD characterization studies associated with mine closure programs. He also has considerable experience with surface water systems and basin hydrological investigations. John’s professional experience includes project duties in the countries of Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Australia, and New Zealand. John is WMC’s Regional Operations Manager for Latin America, and is fluent in Spanish.
Hugh McCreadie, Manager, WMC Waterloo
Hugh McCreadie is Manager of the WMC Waterloo office and is a registered professional engineer in Ontario and British Columbia. He is a specialist in assessing baseline groundwater conditions, assessing the impacts of mine drainage, designing remediation systems and designing dewatering systems at proposed and existing mine sites. He holds a B.A.Sc. degree in Geological Engineering from the University of British Columbia where he studied under Dr. Allan Freeze and an M.Sc. from the University of Waterloo in the fields of geochemistry and hydrogeology where he studied under Dr. David Blowes, an internationally recognized expert in the area of acid mine drainage. Over the past 20 years, Hugh has been involved in mining projects in North America, South America and Indonesia.
Joost Reidel , Manager, WMC Reno
Joost is Manager of the WMC Reno office. He is a Senior Hydrogeologist/ Wastewater Engineer with over 15 years of experience in mining and water resource projects throughout the Americas. In the 1990’s Joost worked extensively in northern Nevada on mine dewatering and water supply projects, until he was relocated in 2000 to run WMC’s operations in the Bolivian mining sector. His broad background includes support and management of public and private sector projects involving dewatering, water resources, environmental hydrogeology, water treatment, pumping system design, and mine closure. In 2003, Joost returned to Nevada to manage WMC’s growing Reno operation.
Rowan McKittrick, Principal, Chile Operations Manager
Rowan is a Senior Hydrogeologist with over 19 years' experience in surface hydrology, groundwater development and management, and groundwater contamination and remediation studies. He has managed a considerable number of projects for both public and industry sector clients, with responsibility for technical and financial control, client and stakeholder liaison and timely preparation and presentation of project deliverables. His professional technical experience includes: design and implementation of hydrogeological investigations and monitoring programmes; assessment of groundwater resources for water supply; development of site-wide water balances; evaluation of hydrogeological impacts; assessment and design of pit drainage and pit slope depressurization systems; risk assessment of contaminated land and landfill sites; and design and implementation of groundwater remediation programmes. His international experience includes the countries of Argentina, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Bolivia, Chile, Honduras, Peru, and the UK. With over 8 years in Latin America, he is fluent in Spanish.
Bryan Robinson, Peru Operations Manager Bryan has 10 years of experience in hydrogeological investigations, mining hydrology and environmental studies. Bryan has worked across a wide range of water and environmental sectors in a regulatory, industrial and consultancy capacity. As a consultant he has managed and undertaken projects for public and industrial sector clients including the UK government, major public water supply and mining companies. His professional experience includes: regional hydrogeological field and modelling studies, the development of water resource abstraction management plans, mine water supply, dewatering and contamination studies, public water supply asset assessments, contaminated land investigations, wetland site protection projects, wellfield maintenance and rehabilitation studies. Bryan has been involved in projects in Europe, North America, Africa, Cuba, Chile and Peru.
Jerry Rowe, Principal,
Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director North America Jerry joined WMC in 1995 after 17 years with another international consulting firm.
He is a registered professional engineer and brings over 30 years
of diversified experience in hydrology and engineering. He has worked extensively on projects involving mine hydrology permitting, environmental studies and closure design. His experience includes mine dewatering, water supply, mine water management, pit lake assessments, groundwater modeling, ARD studies, natural and synthetic covers, passive treatment and engineering design.
Dr David Sellars, Principal, Canada Operations Manager
David Sellars is a registered professional engineer with over 30 years of experience in hydrology and water resource planning, river engineering, water quality studies and hydraulic design. He has worked extensively in North America, South America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Pacific Rim. As the principal engineer, he used state-of-the-art hydrodynamic models on a flood control project for the Red River that won the Consulting Engineering of British Columbia Award of Excellence.
