Water Management Consultants has developed an innovative and participatory framework for the integrated management of water resources with the broad aim of achieving efficient, sustainable and equitable development of water resources. We adopt a people-centred and demand-led approach which works back from a management vision to a detailed analysis of problems and their causes to what needs to be done to solve them.

Title:	Sustainable management of the Usangu wetland and its catchment

Description:	Working in association with HTSPE, WMC’s team of local and international specialists investigated the causes of the recent seasonal drying up of the Great Ruaha River and assessed the options to restore the flow regime. WMC contributed to building capacity in government institutions at regional, river basin and local levels in water resources assessment and management. www.usangu.org

Title:	Integrated groundwater management pilot project
Location:	Colombia
Client:	Ministry of Environment, INGEOMINAS, CVC and CORALINA
Funding:	Department for International Development, UK
Description:	Taking an integrated approach, WMC successfully built capacity in the government of Colombia and among stakeholders at national and local level in the Departments of the Cauca Valley and San Andres Island to plan and implement the management of groundwater resources and control pollution to the point where stakeholders were jointly managing the process together with CVC and CORALINA. Title:	Planning and environmental management for the Pirapama river basin, Pernambuco
